Symyx Release Automation Studio

Symyx Technologies has announced the availability of their enterprise software solution designed to accelerate experimental workflows and improve R&D productivity by automating and controlling multiple laboratory instruments.

Released under the title of 'Automation Studio', the system offers a number of facilities for data collection and real-time data processing, analysis, searching and reporting along with the best capabilities of Symyx Epoch and Symyx Impressionist laboratory execution software.

The new application integrates customizable experimental protocols for automation of powder dispensing, liquid handling, heating, stirring, chromatography, spectroscopy and imaging. It is also configured for easy control of more than 150 different laboratory instruments from over 50 vendors – a highly attractive feature that should remove the need for users to learn multiple software and hardware interfaces.

Additionally, the new system should allow users to collaborate more effectively through its ability to capture experimental data in a standard database that can be accessed across multiple sites – facilitating the retrieval and sharing of experimental protocols and data by globally distributed project teams. Highly functional out-of-the-box searching and reporting capabilities, both at runtime and post-experiment also enable researchers to search the database and share reports with team members using Microsoft Excel and Adobe PDF.
